Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Roomath Android app (the “App”) and the website at roomath.in (the “Website”), together the “Service”. The Service is provided by Srikant Nair, an individual based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (“Roomath”, “we”, “us”). By downloading, installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law to use the App.

2. What Roomath does

Roomath is a personal budgeting tool. It reads financial SMS on your device to record transactions automatically, lets you set budgets and goals, and estimates how much you can spend. All processing happens on your device; see the Privacy Policy for details.

3. Not financial advice

Roomath provides estimates for personal planning only. The “safe to spend” amount and any other figures, insights or suggestions are calculated from the information available on your device and the inputs you provide. They are not financial, investment, tax, credit or legal advice. Roomath is not a bank, payment service, lender or registered financial adviser. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions. Please consult a qualified professional for advice specific to you.

4. Accuracy

Roomath depends on the SMS your bank and payment providers send, and on how they format them. Messages may be missing, delayed, duplicated, worded unusually or misread, and some transactions (for example cash payments) may not generate an SMS at all. As a result, transactions, categories, balances and calculations may sometimes be incomplete or wrong. Please review your records and rely on your official bank statements for authoritative information.

5. Your device and your data

Your data is stored only on your device, and we have no copy of it. You are responsible for securing your device and for any loss of data, including when you uninstall the App, clear its storage, reset or lose your phone. Roomath does not currently offer backup or restore.

6. Licence

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on Android devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:

• copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent the App;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits;
• use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to process messages or financial data that you are not entitled to access; or
• interfere with or attempt to bypass any feature that restricts use of paid features.

7. Purchases and subscriptions

Some features may require a one-time purchase or a subscription. All payments are processed by Google Play and are subject to Google Play's terms and policies.

• Prices are shown in the App and on Google Play before you buy, inclusive of applicable taxes where required.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription.
• Free trials, if offered, convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled.
• Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

We may change prices or which features are paid, with reasonable notice. Changes won't affect a billing period you've already paid for.

8. Intellectual property

The App, the Website, the Roomath name and logo, and all related content, design and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms don't give you any rights in them except the licence in Section 6. Names of banks and payment apps mentioned in the Service belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility.

9. Updates and availability

We may update, change or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Some updates may be needed to keep using the App. We don't guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every device, Android version, bank or SMS format.

10. Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roomath will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, profits, data, or financial or business opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including any decisions you make based on its estimates. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000, whichever is higher.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Roomath harmless from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the App. We may suspend or end your licence if you breach these Terms. Sections 3, 4, 5 and 8 to 15 survive termination.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any rights you have as a consumer to bring a claim where you live, the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction. Before going to court, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved quickly by email.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give notice on this page or in the App. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
